There is Neither Jew Nor Gentile

"There is neither Jew nor Gentile" are words spoken by the apostle Paul, himself a Jew, describing how in God's eyes, we are all equal.

Christianity brought slavery to an end in many parts of the world

I love this verse in Galatians 3, because Paul goes on to say that whether you are a slave or a free man, you are no different in God's eyes!

To our modern sensibilities, this may seem obvious - but there has always been slavery as far back as history goes... only with Judaism and Christianity came the idea that human life is sacred, and that all are equal before God.

The Bible is the only ancient book that elevates women

Then, "there is neither male nor female!"  How necessary it is to know this, for so many women still feel devalued in modern society, even by their churches, where they should feel prized.

Churches and individual Christian believers may fail toward others, but God does not discriminate between men and women, or even between adults and children.  All are loved and valued.

Learn the words of Galatians 3:28 by heart, by singing them

Two keys to sing the song in

I have arranged this song in two keys; Cm and Em.  The higher key, E minor, is much easier to play in, though perhaps a little high for some voices, in the top notes.

Except for the B chord, it is also an easy key for guitarists to play in.

We are the same in God's eyes

Despite the irritating, troubling, and sometimes terrible injustices or disparities that exist in our world, as they did in Jesus's time, yet before God we are all the SAME.  In his eyes, we are equally valuable.

That's why Paul says, "There is no male or female - you all are ONE in Christ Jesus."

What a beautiful picture of God's love for all, which sees each of us as an equal among equals.

When others are seen as sub-human

There is an interesting video at One For Israel Ministry, where some shocking statements are made about women and their low status, by famous rabbis. They claim authority for these awful ideas from the Talmud.  (Not the Torah.)

The majority of the video shows women, reading the statements of many rabbis, and then a man sits down at the table and explains the prayer that men and boys were to pray each day in synagogue.

At 13:25 or so into the video, the speaker is saying the daily prayer of thanks made by some synagogue-attending men, apparently, to God:

"That he didn't make me gentile.

That he didn't make me a slave.

That he didn't make me... a woman."

Now compare the beautiful words of Paul in Galatians 3:28 from the New Testament:

"There is neither Jew nor Gentile...

There is neither slave nor free,

There is neither male nor female,

For you all are one in Christ Jesus."

A comment below this video says, "There are only two kinds of people on this earth - it is not man and woman, it is the seed of the woman and the seed of the snake. Those rabbis show through their words where they get their information from. It's great to be a child of God, being part of the family of the seed of the woman - Yeshua the King."
