Old men... old women... sitting in the streets, each with a staff?
What are these verses in Zechariah talking about?
The staffs indicate they have survived to a very old age, not died young in battle, or of famine, or of sickness. This is a time of PEACE and PROSPERITY.
It is still in the future.
The children can play in the streets, because danger is no longer a part of their lives!

This will happen when the Lord returns to Zion.

And why should Christians in this day and age care about the fulfillment of this prophecy?
Because God's character depends upon Him keeping His word. The "promise of His coming" may take much longer than we expect, but all prophecy is going to be fulfilled.

And the end of the Zion music, which changes mood...
What does "Zion" mean? Is it a geographical location, where the city of David was built? The biblical land of Israel, the homeland of Jewish people?
Or is it an IDEA, the center of Judaism, or the kingdom of God?
It is possible the meaning of Zion encompasses BOTH geography and a concept.
The video of Zion lyrics music below is NOT the sheet music on this page.
However, the message is similar, and this is one of the most beautiful Zion videos I have ever seen:
Here is a lead sheet in the key of G, for guitar or melody instruments.

Hi, I'm Dana! (Say that like "Anna".) I'm the owner of Music-for-Music-Teachers.com, and this newer site, SingTheBibleStory.com.
Like some of you, I've been playing the piano since early childhood, and have added a few other instruments along the way, plus an interest in arranging and composing music.
I also happen to love the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Christian worldview that portrays The Great War in the heavens, in which we here on earth are destined to be a part.
