What Wondrous Love in 4-part harmony, a possibility for Easter - a hauntingly beautiful ShapeNote version.
This is most likely not the melody that you have heard before... this melody was first heard by me through a performance by a group called "Blue Highway," and definitely has a feeling of bluegrass in their rendition.
My 4-part arrangement, though, is a bit more stately, but still haunting.
Here is a performance of that by some of my own students, quite some years back. I apologize for the quality of the video! - but I am glad to have it.
Though almost all of my sheet music is FREE, this 4-part choral version is for sale at my other website, Music-for-Music-Teachers.com, where I have written,
"Like many other old gospel hymns, the hymn lyrics focus on the soul's separation from God because of sin.
"Though humankind deserved God's "righteous frown," yet because of His great love for those He made, those who were like lost lambs, God took the curse of sin upon Himself.
"By becoming man - the God-man - and dying for sin like a sacrificed Lamb Himself, He freed those He loves (all of us, says the Bible). It is the story of a Great Rescue.

Hi, I'm Dana! (Say that like "Anna".) I'm the owner of Music-for-Music-Teachers.com, and this newer site, SingTheBibleStory.com.
Like some of you, I've been playing the piano since early childhood, and have added a few other instruments along the way, plus an interest in arranging and composing music.
I also happen to love the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Christian worldview that portrays The Great War in the heavens, in which we here on earth are destined to be a part.
